It all started behind the DJ booth in Vejle. That’s where Thomas Bennedsen noticed that young people didn’t just love to dance – they also loved taking pictures of themselves. He built a prototype of a photo booth, which instantly became a hit and in high demand.
“In the old days, disposable cameras would be placed on the tables at parties. Today, many use their phones. But a photo booth makes the experience more fun. With props and activity cards, it becomes a party game that everyone can join. It lifts the atmosphere, and the photos are easy to share afterwards,” says Thomas Bennedsen, founder of myselfie ApS.
From startup to international business
Since 2015, myselfie has been a fixture at thousands of parties, events, and hotel stays where guests want a lasting memory. Today, the company employs eight full-time staff members, twelve part-time staff members, and serves customers in Denmark, Sweden, Germany, the Faroe Islands, and Greenland.
“We handle around 14,000 orders a year and are now running a more profitable business than ever before. The pandemic put growth on hold, but it has come back strong. We’ve also expanded with new services, including an add-on printer and an audio guestbook,” says Thomas Bennedsen.
A payment solution that just works
Quickpay and Clearhaus have been part of the journey since 2015.
“We were classic entrepreneurs who didn’t know the first thing about payment infrastructure. At a Seedster startup conference, we met someone who told us about a sharp, digital card payment solution – one that was far better and cheaper than what we had initially started with. That’s when we first heard about Quickpay and Clearhaus. We quickly entered into a partnership, and it’s worked flawlessly ever since,” he explains.
For myselfie, it’s crucial that payments work every single time – no matter what country the customers order from. A photo booth is a pleasure product, and if the payment doesn’t go through, customers will simply drop it.
”Our priority is closing sales quickly and smoothly. We can invest as much as we want in marketing to attract customers, but if payment fails, they vanish right away. That’s why we value the stability of the solutions - they simply always work. It provides a sense of security, and our customers feel that throughout the entire buying process,” he says.
