Danmark

In Denmark payments are mostly handled with payment cards. Most Danes own a payment card and are as confident in using it online as almost no other nationality.

MobilePay as a payment method has seen substantial growth in recent years, but it is important to note that a MobilePay Online transaction is in fact a card payment transaction.

Danish consumers are generally positive towards online shopping and year after year there is a significant growth in online shopping behaviour.

Native currency

Danish native currency in Danish Krone (DKK). The krone is the official currency of Denmark as well as the provinces of Greenland and the Faroe Islands. The krone subdivides into 150 øre and is currently pegged to the euro. The local currency is denoted as kr, as in kr100, meaning 100 kroner (plural).
The krone has existed in some form in Denmark since the early 1600s, and today is pegged to the euro at a rate of 7.46, and is required to stay within a 2.25% band of that level.
Denmark is part of the European Union but has opted to retain its own independent currency.

ViaBill allows customers to pay for their purchases in 10 installments without an interest fee. ViaBill pays out the money to webshops 14 days after an order is placed, while the customers pay back to ViaBill.
